That was funny

Decided it was time to apply some gummi pflege to the rubber seals of the roof to make it quieter. I did this in the underground garage of my apartment building, and when I was finished I got in my car to close the roof. As soon as I start the engine and hit the close button the alarm goes off. That was strange for two reasons:

A) I had the key in my pocket.
B) I don't have an alarm system.

I turn off the engine, but the alarm is still screaming. I start the engine again and the second I've finished closing the roof the alarm stops. Good. Problem solved. I switch off the engine again to think for a minute. How could I not have noticed before I have an alarm system after all? How does one switch it off?

And then it hits me. Maybe it wasn't my car making all the noise. I start the engine again, and sure enough, there's a poor Toyota two cars away from mine sounding its alarm. There's a van between us, so I couldn't see it until I drove past it.

No, I don't. And now that I think about it they never asked if I have one, so it probably wouldn't even have lowered my premium. 99% of the time it's a false alarm when you hear one, so nobody pays any attention to them anymore.

Yeah, it makes a huge difference for the roof, not so much for the Toyota.

Tell me more about the seal! I have been hearing rattles, but haven't been able to prove where it came from.

So, is it cheaper to buy a toyota with an alarm and have it follow you around or to option in the genuine BMW alarm system?

Don't know, but they'd both be equally useless

You may get a kick out of this, I picked up my new car on Thursday, so yesterday I saw an old friend of mine near by. He has some very nice trees so a good opportunity for a quick photo shoot that of course I had planned

Anyway I cover my plates with a pre-arranged sign (copy below) and yes you guessed it I forgot to take them off again & drove all the way home (some 60 miles) with my front and rear plate covered with the stupid sign

Some people looked at me in a funny way (I drove slower since I am braking the engine in) once I got home I knew why they looked at me that way.

So no worries, we all face strange encounters some days
