i got an X4 28i that bitch is my home depot work horse. Carry dry wall, 4x4s, ladders, and pretty much anything i can stuff up her ass. Its decent on gas as well.

X3 is slightly cheaper but i live on long island and wanted something that not everyone had already.

This is one of the reasons why we're looking at SUV's. Had a Sienna but sold it a year or two ago. SUVs or vans are convenient for trips and cargo hauling.

Recently picked up a lightly used Lexus RX450h. 2016s are the new generation so i'm talking about the 2010-2015s. It's a hybrid but still Toyota reliability with no major issues/complaints.

Decent power and i'm averaging about 29MPG mixed driving for me, it actually gets better city mileage than highway. Perfect for a daily in my books, all the other 4cyl SUVs that get good gas mileage are gutless 4 cylinders, I owned a few of them and couldn't go back.

I think a few years old used rx450h can be had within your budget, a new RX is out of your range, given they are reliable i didn't have a problem buying used.

Dad hates the looks of the older RX (no offense). He likes the new design much better. I think that would be the best vehicle for them (checks virtually all the boxes). However, given that it just came out, there are no used vehicles. We found a base model with a color we liked at $44k. Even with discount we're looking at $44k OTD. About 10% higher than budget.

I've had BMW since 1988 and haven't had problems with any of them. My son "bought" 2 of them from me and put an extra 150k miles on them and he had no problems either.

A CPO car is going to cost you/them an extra $1500 or so over a similar non-CPO car, but you can still get an X3 within your 30k budget.

Go drive one and you will be done with your shopping
This is exactly how my wife chose the X3 over the RDX, MDX, CRV and Land Rover Discovery Sport. We have free maintenance extended to 100k miles!

Bro, old RX drove like a boring boat. Good thing he hates it.

$40k new - Toyota Highlander.

Used you can pick up a preowned 2013 X5 35i or 35d for $35k-$40k, some with CPO warranties. 35i is bulletproof, 35d has headaches. Some E70s have a 5+2 3rd row configuration. If you're interested in seeing mine, (not for sale) hit me up.

PM'd, also floating out there on bimmerfest forums, there's a 2012 MY X5 order guide...if you're seriously shopping for a E70, let me know if you need help finding it.

Jeep grand cherokee is terrible...

google TIPM recall and I got nowhere near the guestimated fuel consumption rate.
affects models from 2011-current

I dumped mine at 36000 miles for a F31.

The JX is like the Jerk edition. Looks like an old sneaker on wheels. Hate the looks.
