dashbd controls (fuse dead?)

Just wondering if anyone has had their HVAC controls not working (presumably by a burnt fuse)? The 4 'circles' no longer have those green lights so the functions don't work but the orange backlights are still there.

The fuse box looks like a pain to remove so wondering if someone has previous experience on what fuse(s) I should be looking for or if there may be another prb? Thx.

Likely a fuse, but could be a control module.

I'm hoping that there's a chart telling me what fuse is for what ftn, but just in case, does a burnt fuse look differently from a reg one?

You've read the manaul - there is a chart of location/function inside the cover.

Yes there is a visible difference. The plastic fuse housings are transparent and you can see an "open" element (the squiggle thing between the terminal posts) Sometimes it requires removal of the fuse from the holder to see or use of an ohm meter will easily verify the open circuit.

Usually fuses just don't blow for no reason - although in a rare case it could be a bad item.

Ok, so the dealer diagnosed the prb and supposedly it was a faulty control unit, which was subsequently replaced. However, the prb still occurs about 10% of the time I start up the car (i.e. HVAC controls don't work): not sure if you guys have any ideas what it could be? It is very weird.

Well, the rear defroster button still works even when the rest of the buttons don't whenever the HVAC acts up. Any ideas what prb it could be?
