Re:
In the UK the steering is totally different between the two.
The iS steering is much lighter in normal mode and it's a lot sharper overall with more feel. There is less of a dead spot at the straight ahead position to. I'm not sure if this is just software tweeks. The car has a 10mm lower ride height to or is that just the same with adaptive suspension on the 35i? |

Yes, it's the adaptive suspension that the 35i gets in the M Sport package.

I could have swore that I remembered seeing a few people talking about it as it related to switching out springs and or getting larger wheels where there was an additional amount to factor for on the is.

Interesting...I have a 2012 also and I remember that the sport package was an option, but when I go to the website now, sport package is not available, only M sport.

I note that my rear brakes don't look like either of those pix, so I'm hoping that you simply mislabeled those 2 pix...or else I'll have to bring this up w/ my dealer. If I was given the 300mm, shouldn't my fronts and rears look the same? If I have a prb but am out of warranty, can I still pursue if I indeed got shortchanged? This is perplexing. Could someone please advise? |

it is a bit hard to claim with the dealership once you have signed the papers and drive off the lot especially after a long time. they could said you swapped it out. if you purchased your vehicle used, your vehicle may have been from USA and imported to Canada or the previous owner swapped them out for another vehicle and then trade it in with the dealership.

Anyway, not sure if I even have this prb, hopefully someone with a Canadian DM Z4 could chime in here clarify. It would seem very unlikely that my dealer would pull a fast one, so maybe what happened for USDM happened for CDM...no idea. |

Our Canadian spec 35i has the same front brake as yours (the one on the right picture from niknaz). It was ordered from the factory with the adaptive suspension, stock 17" wheels, and no sport package. Built Sept 09, listed as model year 2010. No issues - stops every time.

As info, my 2009 3.5i had comfort, sport, sport+ from memory and after the HPFP replacement, BMW flashed my software and the nav software and display changed subtley to normal, sport, sport+ and the nav display felt "fresher"...

That means what happened for USDM is the same for CDM, i.e. 35i has smaller brakes than the 35is? |

How come my rears don't look like my fronts? Are they even smaller than the fronts? Even in the literature I quoted in my above post somewhere, the 30i has a square set (300mm). |

OK - I know we are straying off the OP's original topic, and I can't speak for other model years, but the stock 35i for model year 2010, in Canada, came with the wheels that we have on the car, called 'Turbine Styling', or Style 292. Others have rightfully commented that they look like ladies high-heeled shoes (five on each wheel). Only if we ordered the sport package would 18" wheels have been fitted. If you haven't guessed yet, this is my wife's car.

Tranquility, these are mine...just took the photos a few minutes ago. I have a 2011 3.0i, built March 2010, delivered April 2010. It came with the 18" rims and the 276 (I believe) rim style. My brakes look the same as the one posted on the right. Top pic is front, bottom is rear.

Brake size doesn't matter much for most drivers unless you step on it heavily. Most would benefit on the track or need to stop suddenly to avoid an accident. Normal driving condition, the vehicle should behave similar to one another. I wouldn't stress about the brake size so much unless you have to have it. It's the same situation for most BBK that people upgrade to. I had BBK front and rear on my previous Z4M and daily driving, its just like any other car but if you step on it heavily, it come to a stop so quickly.

In my experience anyway, for a stock 35i the bigger issues for heat management are engine and tires. |

im looking to retro fit and upgrade to 35is rear and bmw performance fronts for my 35i since i track the car more often now. trouble now is to find a good deal for them. this is in my opinion a budget upgrade to the 35i without going full ap or brembo bbks
