Two types of Launch Control
Alright so after quite a bit of experimenting I figured out how to get launch control to work. I just needed to push the pedal down fast past the kickdown. The same day I figured out how to get the car to do a full on burnout. I will lay out the exact steps I was able to recreate with both.
Normal Launch Control (you MUST drive 6.2 miles before it will work) - In order for this to work you must have DTC activated (push the DTC button ONE time, do not hold it), sport button activated, and be in manual mode with first gear selected. Then at a complete stop follow the following steps. 1) Hold the brake with your left foot 2) Slam the accelerator all the way down past the kickdown point (as far as it will go) 3) Car will rev to 3500 RPMS 4) Let go of the brake and off you go. Burnout Launch Control - In order for this to work you must have DTC all the way off (push and hold the DTC button for 3-4 seconds), sports button activated, and be in manual mode with first gear selected Then at a complete stop follow the following steps. 1) Take your foot off the brake and slam the accelerator all the way down past the kickdown point 2) The car takes a second and then starts doing a full on burnout. For all you drag lovers I would imagine you would use the burnout launch control then change the DTC to the normal setting (only pushed once, dont hold) and then use normal launch control. I was able to recreate this on my car so hopefully someone with DTC is able to go out and double check these results.

That's not LC, that's just stomping on the loud pedal in TIMYOYO mode.

Maybe it is just a turbo thing...but in my E46 M3 if I just stomped on the pedal it would just take off...not stay in place...and then all of a sudden start doing a burnout.'

Why even buy the twin turbo motor if you won't actually use it? |

Indeed. But you are full of it if you tell me you have never spun the tires anywhere besides a track. Besides it's not like I do it when other cars are around. I do it on a backroad and maybe spin the tires through first gear after leaving a stop sign or something. Cars are meant to be driven every once in a while
What tracks are really for is racing. |

Launch Control standard??
I have a 2011 135i but without the MSport package. Is the launch control a standard feature on all 135's or is it unique to the M Sport package?

Standard on all 2011 Automatic 7speed 135i's. You must be past the break in period mileage and your car's engine must be at a certain temperature before it will work. So it won't work right after you starting up your car.
