eisenmann "sport"

Does anyone have any experience with the sport version of this exhaust. I have seen countless reviews/post on the race version but have yet to find any good info on the sport version. The race is illegal in Switzerland and thus looking at the sport versions.

Also looked at doing the golf tee mod and maybe this would be enough.

I read a review in the M3 forum from someone who installed the sport version, then the race, then went back to the sport.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=590965

then there's this from the E90 forum
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170812

I'd like to upgrade my exhaust but like you, I'm not sure what's the best choice. I'd like to hear the Eisenmann in person. that would really help.

I am pretty dense - sorry for ignoring the title.

Okay, the sport flows only slightly less than the race based on the Eisenmann numbers, so power gains will be similar. The sport is also not as loud/raspy. I see the sport as the way to go if you want to make sure you are not annoyed by the louder and sometimes drone of the race exhaust.

Admission, after several months, just today I drove home from the local mechanic with the AR Design DPs installed - it made the Eisenmann sound much deeper and less annoying as we have the "race" version. Somehow, the droning is now gone and the mod makes me smile.

I had a race version on my e46 m3 (this was 7 years ago) It was great but after a while the drone just did my head in. Also race is illegal in Switzerland (ie you wont get the papers to use it) That leaves me to golf tee or sport.

Probably best to do the golf tee for a while then see if i really want to upgrade.

good idea - golf tee and then maybe Eisenmann, but since you have the "is" model I think the gold tee will be fine as the stock is exhaust sounds better than the regular i

I've done the T mod on mine, its loud at startup, but normal driving it just adds more bass to the sound and slight raspy increase generally. I have a friend that had the eisenmann exhaust and he sold it after six months as the drone at highway speeds was too loud.

Hi Vintage! Did you go with catted or catless dp from AR Design? Due to strict emissions in CA, I would probably have to go catted, but then what's the point right?

A little catalytic converter data from Eurosport website.
http://www.eurosportexhausts.co.uk/Catalysts.html
I noticed none of their applications were rated for engines over 350 bhp, but considering we have two primary cats, I assume they'll flow 700 bhp for our N54. All their dealers are in UK though.

from the website.....
Your standard catalytic converter will usually have between 400 – 600 cells per square inch ( cpsi )

Eurosports SPORTS cats have 200 cpsi and our FIA approved RACE cats have 100 cpsi

Both SPORTS and RACE cats will benefit in reduced back pressure and increased flow rates , which is ideal for extracting extra performance from your tuned vehicle

For road use we would recommend the 200 cpsi SPORTS cat to ensure that your vehicle will still pass any emissions laws

The power gains on smaller engines will be minimal with a SPORTS cat but on larger engines you should typically see power gains of between 4 bhp and 10bhp

As a general rule , the more power the vehicle is producing , the greater the benefit will be of fitting a SPORTS cat.....END.

I went ceramic coated (black) with race cats - sounds awesome and really improved the sound of the Eisenmann Race exhaust. If these DPs were available when we first bought the car I would have forgone the $3k Eisenmann exhaust and installed catless AR DPs and then done the golf tee mod. However, the awesome exhaust deleted the secondary cats so if I had run the catless DPs it would have been way too loud (not to mention very illegal as opposed to just a little illegal).

The early verdict is that the DPs have made the exhaust note much deeper and the drone of the race exhaust is gone - I love them. There is also probably more power and less lag, at least my butt tells me so, but, honestly, with a Stett FMIC, ESS stage 1, Eisenmann Race and now these DPS, the power is awesome and it gets to a point where I can't tell the difference although the car is running in perfect, mildly modified harmony.
