E89 ghosts

Went out earlier for a short drive, the boot/trunk decided to open itself.. not a surprise it's done that before. Got back, parked the car and all was well.
Just went outside the house, roof is open and stored on the boot This is a new one for me... I didn't do it, key fob on my desk in my office. Anyone had that before? In the past I have found all the windows open, but first time for the roof. Car is parked under a carport, not in direct rain, although it was pissing down last night.
So, why did that happen I wonder. I do have Smarttop but not sure if that would be at fault.

Any ideas?

People say when the battery gets ‘old’, all sort of gremlins pop up. Worth checking that.
