2011 Z4 - Is it supposed to do this?

Hi

I just bought a 2011 Z4 and I wanted to ask about a couple of things I'm not sure about.

1. Using the remote for the hardtop. If I press and hold the unlock button, the hardtop retracts. If I press and hold the lock button, the hardtop doesn't close! I have to get in and press the button on the dash to close it.

2. Using the remote for the boot/trunk release, the boot unlatches but it doesn't swing open, it just goes from locked to unlatched. I was expecting it to swing open. Does anyone else's boot actually swing open?

Thanks.

1. Your car probably does not have the comfort access

2. The boot (or trunk for us in the US) does not swing on this car

@edlogix, thanks for the reply. So, do people thin it could be a correct option that the hardtop opens with the remote, but does not close with the remote?

It seems a bit half-arsed and unlikely to me, but, I can only ask what other people have.

Thanjs again for any info.

Without comfort access yeah unfortunately that's how it is...
Comfort access enables closing amongst other things.

You can close the roof from the outside using the key from the key-fob. Simply insert it into the door lock, turn and hold it in the lock position until the roof has closed and the windows are up.

Or if you buy and install the smart top module then even without comfort access you can open and close from the remote. And without having to hold the button down the entire time.

My 09 has comfort access, however if outside the vehicle, I have to be BEHIND either door and to hold down the round center button on the key fob to make the Top go up or down. It seems the location of the Fob makes a difference -

With my Comfort Access the FOB I can raise and lower the top outside the car, but as stated above, even with a brand new FOB battery, I have to stand behind the driver door for this top to activate.
