Retrofit of adaptive suspension

I wonder if it's possible to retrofit adaptive suspension for BMW Z4 e89 as you have as standard in case of 35is version.

Besides of need for a control unit, electrical harness and coding.. are there a mechanical differences which prohibits us to do so just by replacing suspension and damper elements?

Is there a real benefit having such us option available in car?

Tks!
