Trunk not opening fully to clear roof

I've got everything working in regards to all the sensors and switch connections that were frayed by replacing all wiring and reading the errors. I now have another issue.
It seems that the trunk is not opening up enough to allow the roof to clear. The result is that it rubs against the roof every time. I found what I think to be the issue where there appears to be some play in the hydraulic pump with pushes the arm to open the trunk. But im not 100% sure if that's the case. The same amount of play can be seen on both sides although it seems to rub more on the left side. Here is a quick video I made showing how far it needs to extend and then showing the play in the arm connected to the pump.

here is what happens when opening and closing:

Any clues or what to check would be most appreciated!

Like always, no feedback, no answers on my questions even after a week.
Good luck.
