Did anyone order the 2012 steering wheel yet? What is the part number for it and the new pull pull shifters?

I have wanted to update the wheel on my 2009 since I got it. I miss the thick wheel from my 135.

You can just get a 135 steering wheel. They fit...

That's great. Any idea on what the part numbers for the M steering wheel are then? I think BMW used to have them listed under accessories, but now I only see the performance wheel and the performance wheel with the RPM LEDs.

I assume the current paddle shifters and the airbag will fit. Any chance the new pull-pull shifters will?

Thanks.

They don't fit. You have to use E9x spec airbag and buttons (and paddles) if your switching to an E9x steering wheel.

I couldn't find any info on that part. I would like to buy a set and try out myself.
Thank you.

Hi tkmloh

If you managed to order it to Singapore, and have it installed properly, do share the details. I wish to install this on my 2009 E89 too. The current push-pull shifters are making me re-learn how to paddle shift!

Cheers

Thanks. Lovely how USD 400 becomes SGD 700. Oh well, our cars with COE are already overpriced at the first place. At least, good to hear PML is taking good care of their customers with such OEM retrofit requests without voiding warranty.

Cheers

Edit: I've ordered a set, no more up-shifting to overtake :P

Hi tkmloh,
in Italy, BMW official shop says that this retrofit isn't possible.
I asket to change my actual paddles 32306795939 into the newest 32306799619...
They said that the two-systems aren't compatible...
Did you perform the change by yourself or in a BMW shop?
Cheers.

Ciao, sono di Livorno. Benvenuto fra noi .

Switching the shifters wires is not dificult. The more tedious thing is to remove the airbag. Then, by a visual inspection on the shifters and the aid of an electric tester you can identify the different current pulses corresponding to push or pull and "cut and joint" the wires, welding or simply acoupling them using isolation tape. I had it done by an electric shop. No rocket science involved, only some basic skills.

hi teog60,
my paddles were retrofitted in BMW. I guess it's not too difficult if you know how to remove the airbag without removing the steering wheel. it's a definite go that neither require reprogramming nor rewiring.

Anyone done this in the US? Curious how much BMW dealer would charge for labor.

Tkmloh: I heard e89 in Singapore cost upward of $250k, with COE at about $100k now? How the F is traffic still bad over there?

yes cars are pretty expensive over in singapore. guess it's herd mentality as all who are driving are accustomed to the prices. I'm over in oz now and a simple meal out in the restaurant costs aud$80 per head. that's a lot more than back in Singapore but that doesn't stop people from going to the restaurant.
traffic's pretty much regulated but when you cramp half a million cars in a small city like Singapore, you're gonna get some traffic. its regulated and traffic's slow but moving. try driving in Jakarta and you'll wished you're cycling instead.

its not too difficult as there's a technique in doing so. try googling for some instructions. I've seen my Mech done it in a couple of secs. no need to reset airbag as well.

I asked to BMW for an official retrofit.
They reply that this isn't feasible onto my Z4 (35i, 04/2009). Electrical system is not compatible.
I remain whit the double push-pull paddles... Sigh!

Here are the new shifters on my 2010 Z4, I didn't take snaps before the install but here is where I ordered from. It was a 30 minute install, BMW was whining to do it so had it done at a friends garage.

Also got the nicer pedals

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/32306799619/ES2537238/

Sorry for the poor picture

Edit: You don't need to unplug the airbag, that might set off codes but, do unplug the battery as a precautionary measure.
