What is this part inside the glovebox?

Looking around the car, it looks to me that there might be something that goes inside the glove box. There seems to be a socket (??) for something...

Anybody knows?

Believe this is cable outlet for right hand drive cars. Far cheaper to have the car wired for L/R drive. OR, it could be outlet for BMW glovebox flashlight. I had this in my E46 M3 (my last bmw)

I use it for storing the console side cup holder. Snaps right in.

Its for storing the Snap In cup holder. I thought it was for a flashlight too, since some other models come with them.

When I picked up my car from the dealer the cup holder was in there.
