Wheel gurus, please read.

I got a killer deal on some 19" BBS wheels. They're a square set up, 19x8.5 +35ET. I'd be running my old 335i tires that barely saw any use, 235/35/19 in the front and 275/30/19 in the rear. I don't think there will be any problems with this since the offsets aren't very aggressive. If anything though, I'll see how they look on the Z4 installed, then possibly add a 10mm H&R spacer to the rear if it isn't flush enough or if there is any inside tire rubbing.

Opinions? (If you don't like the wheels, whatever, not the point)

Here are the wheels:

Word. Hopefully saturday. They should be shipped out tomorrow, Chicago to STL should have them here on Saturday hopefully. If so, I'll have an updated pic on Sunday.

OP, have you run the 275mm tires on 8.5" width wheel in the past?

Supposedly the minimum wheel width is 9" for that width tire. I've read elsewhere that 0.5" narrower wheel is not a big deal, but would love to hear how that has gone for you in the past

The good news: The 275 tires fit on just fine. It was very difficult for them to mount but they got it done.

The bad news: The seller of the wheels didn't have the wheels professionally painted, instead it appears that he used a can of flat black spray paint on unprimed wheels. So I'll have to drop some money on having them done right. But for $590, its still a good deal on authentic BBS wheels.

Here are some pics of the car with the wheels on. I have some BMW Performance black grilles and painted reflector deletes being shipped to me now. I'm supposed to have a professional photo session on the car this weekend so I'll post a thread in the gallery section once those are done.

nice stance!

Could you please share pic of the rear tire sidewall? I'm curious to see how it looks running the 275mm tire on the 8.5" wide wheel

The tire is pretty flush with the side wall. I was expecting way worse and the +38 offsets for the car look to be just fine.

Is it the photos or is the car dirty in the first photo? If not you need to give that black paint some TLC. I love black and when done right it is the best looking ride on the road hands down. But if done wrong it looks dull and sad.

I see what you are talking about on the wheels. I see the silver under the black. They will need a good sanding, primed and a few coats of quality black then I would go with a flat clear like what is done on the Harley Davidson's that is called Denim. They use normal clear with an additive that makes the clear dry flat but you still have all the benefits of a quality clear coat. You just have to be kind to it and not use normal clear polishes on it.

Or go with a flat powder or ceramic coating, depending on your budget.

I'd also get the new side markers and do them in black also, to get rid of that white bubble on the sides.

But, that's my opinion.

Thanks for the pic and the info!

Also, your first post said 35 offset? Have you driven it hard to the point of full suspension compression (or gone over some big bumps) to check for rub?

I'm trying to figure out if I can put on the 275 wide tires on my stock 8.5" ET40 wheel without any rubbing when the suspension is fully compressed

I fit 275 on a 20x11 + 19 lowest height on KW V3 with a little rub as well as a 275 on 19x11 +22 with no rub. That set up should be fine as long as your suspension specs are properly dialed in.

Yes you can run them. My ET turned out to actually be 38 when I check the BBS website, I doubt the 2mm will make any difference.

BUT i was lucky that my good friend runs the tire shop I went to, otherwise they would have given up on mounting that tire. 275 on 8.5" is really tough.
