Damping Malfunction
I heard somewhere on the forum (on the topic of reliability) that someone had a damping malfunction error light up their screen. Well I got that the first day I bought the car.
They had to replace the two front shock assemblies (they had to order it from Germany and took 1.5 weeks). Then after test driving it, they replaced the two rear shock assemblies. So now I'm riding on 2010 shocks. I do have the sport package with normal, sport, sport+ The bmw tech stated there may be problems with the 2009 shocks and people are slowing coming in for replacement, but no recall has been sent by bmw. Has anyone heard of this or experienced the same problem? --Chuck |

you know I have kinda suspected some issues. I hear kind of a slopy clunk in the rear of the car going over manhole covers. wondering if this is indicative of issues, but no warning lights to speak of.

+1 for damper failure. I also the same problem from day 1. I picked up my car (July 2009 production Z4 35i) last Saturday, it was brand new with 7 miles on the odo. If the adaptive suspension fails, you'll get a warning message on the dash display and "CHECK CONTROL" which I got on the way home from the dealership.
My left front strut was replaced today. I posted this problem on Bimmerfest, but so far no one over there has chimed in with the same malfunction. |
