Folding Mirrors and Look-down Backing Up?
While I wait for my 2012 Z4 to go into production, I've been reading the manual (obtained from BMWUSA.com). It refers to a button on the driver's door armrest that purportedly folds in the side-view mirrors. It also refers to a tilt-down feature on the passenger side mirror when backing up. Are these two features included in the 2012 Z4?
Thanks in advance! |

Power folding mirros and tilt down feature
I have them on my car. So I would expect so. Not sure if it is standard on the base car in the US or if it is part of the Premium package.

David JS---I am waiting on a 2012 Z4 also. I'm glad to hear we have that mirror feature. You didn't find a back up camera yet did you? I have ordered NAV but have seen no mention of the back up camera.

Perfect in a tight garage like mine.
Many cars offer this in Europe and Japan, especially SUVs (tight streets...) unfortunately that feature seldom makes it to the North America market.

The tilt down feature is great. I back into the garage and need to see the ground near the car.

I like that I can select the tilt-down to Not tilt for certain situations when I don't need to see the ground or a curb. Just slide the mirror adjust select button to the passenger mirror adjust position and the mirror doesn't tilt.

David JS. My dealer had a production number in March but called yesterday to tell me that they were able to get an earlier number. I will log on Monday with the new production number and see where I am. In Colorado, I really wasn't in a big hurry for delivery. The 1st of April would have been fine. Monday I will log on using my new prodiction number and want to watch some of the videos.

Colorado, I was also hoping for later to avoid the possibility of snow right away, but given that I wanted the "Mission to Drive" incentive I had to order before Jan 3. Even so, the dealer said they expect delivery mid-March, so it may just work out.
MyBMW won't tell you the production date before it actually goes into production. You have to get that from your sales advisor. My advisor has been very helpful and responsive. I hope yours is, too! |

David JS We are in the same boat. Mid March would be fine with me. I ordered on Jan 3rd in order to get the discount. I experienced this production date shipping program when I ordered a new Mini Cooper S back in 2007.
