Assuming the lease on a 2012 Z4 35is!

Hey guys! After several years of non-BMW cars, I am following my heart and coming back to the scene. I am assuming the lease of a 2012 Black Sapphire Z4 35is with Canyon Brown interior. A little bit about myself: After having about a dozen BMWs between my father and I (six M cars myself), I leased a 2012 C63 and from there, a 2013 911 which is in the process of being assumed by someone else. Heading to Atlanta next weekend to pick up the Z4 and drive it back to New York. Sorry for the crappy pictures. I plan to do a full photoshoot once I get the car. Here are a couple of pictures of the car I will be assuming:

And these are some of my prior cars:

And the wife's car:

And a prior post from way back in the day:

your FX is an excellent vehicle. I have one myself. 145k and counting and never has missed a beat. I'm amazed at how loyal BMW owners are. Once you own one you always come back.

Might be a rough transition coming from the 991. The z4 while a good car feels like an SUV compared to it. Curious on your lease transfer though. Were you able to get it completely out of your name? I was always under the impression porsche stills holds you liable for the car even after the trade.

Why did you get out of the porsche and the MB? Just time for something different or was there issues with the others?

What was wrong with the C63? Did you not like it?

Good luck and happy motoring with that nice Z4!

Welcome back.

Throw on some bolt ons and get a Cobb to help you forget about the 991 and C63

You are correct. With Porsche I am still a secondary on the lease agreement. I guess we just have to hope for the best. Otherwise I may be liable if he defaults on the payments. I'm not worried. He seems like a nice guy and has a stable of other great cars.

No issues whatsoever! Got outta the C63 because I found an incredibly low lease payment on the 911. It literally was too good to pass up. Getting rid of the 911 because my wife and I are looking for something a bit more cost effective and also something in Automatic since my wife can't drive stick. Lately I've been needing her car and leaving her without one. Also we just purchased a summer home so looking to save a couple bucks....

Update: Picked up the car Friday afternoon from Atlanta, Georgia and drove it 865 miles back to Brooklyn, New York over the weekend. What an awesome car!!! I seriously love it! It was so well-balanced, quick and responsive. And actually surprisingly comfortable. I really love it. Here are a couple of pictures of it.

First of it dirty halfway through the ride somewhere in Virginia:

And then of it detailed and tinted with 35% all around yesterday morning:

Sorry for the crappy iphone pics!

Interested in your back to back driver impression on the 991 vs the z4 on some nice twisty roads.

Unfortunately, the route I-85N to I-95N had zero twisties. The previous leassee of the car actually installed an Eibach suspension so there is essentially zero body roll. I took some exit ramps much faster than recommended. It is a blast!

I really am loving the DCT. Lightning quick shifts, always seems to pick the right gear and sounds great as it "pops" when shifting. The gentleman before me who had the car also did a secondary cat delete so it really almost burbles and gurgles when letting off the gas. I'm really impressed. Some mods will be coming up soon. I will definitely take a bunch of before and after pictures....

I gotta ask: what were the 911 payments?

i was going to get one… but the deals were horrible!! I would have rather just bought the car at the rates they wanted.
So I ended up leasing SL

I do miss my Z4… especially the transmission and quick power. but the Z4 fails at top end unfortunately (no replacement for displacement after all)

Put a Jb4 in there and watch it go. It'll be quite a fast little jet. I recommend changing to non runfalts obviously.
After installing RS3s on my Z4, the car completely changed. My lap times at the track never beat those that I had with my e93 M3, but the was still lots of fun.

Congrats and enjoy!

Also curious on your payments and how long it took for someone to assume the lease. I was thinking about ditching mine as I might be leaving the states for a year or so.

Persian54! Long time no speak! I think we used to have the same Mineral White E93! I have the AZ in a body shop getting the wheels powdercoated black for now so I don't think I will do any performance modifications just yet. But I'm sure once I get the itch again that will change...

My payments on the 911 were $947 per month on a $98,000 sticker. I had it on swapalease for just a couple of weeks before someone agreed to take it over. I also was asking for a $3,500 down payment and received that as well. I had a total of 65 people interested in the car from swapalease.

Hey man!!! Yeah long time no talk! We did have the same mineral white e93 M3 ! I do miss that car.

That was a GREAT payment.

I was about to get a 991 but the payments were unreasonable, so I went with a SL550 instead (plus, the hardtop convertible was a huge selling point for me already).
