E89 on the race track

No its not a drag strip, but a Formula One track in Sepang Malaysia.

Took the 3 hours drive to the track this afternoon, 3rd time with my E89, but this time it has a few goodies that was not in the car the previous time. Notably the KW3 and a JB4 tune.

Did u have the stock RFT tires? Also did u have the stock brakes?
U were quite fast (compared with those M3s) but that Porsche was from another league

ah that cup car... out of the world

Car was on RE11, a very nice sticky compound thats for street use. No complaints actually.

i forget to mentioned im on the brembos GT BBK. even with agressive street driving, it was hard pressed for me to recommend my friends to get the BBK as there was virtually no difference compared to stock. On the track its a different thing all together. great modulation, no fade even with repeated laps.

Im sure I could have gone faster if not for the engine intervention thats keeps cutting power to the wheels. Besides traction control and DSC off, is there something else I can do to prevent that happening? kind of frustrating not being able to gun out of a corner everytime!

Other than being in sport+ mode with your already fast DCT tranny I really don t know

5:20 onwards. That Porsche is an absolute weapon lol. You were killing it around the track until that Porsche popped your bubble. Nice driving!

Landshark I was on the auto tune map 5. The additional power let me overtake a couple of m3s on the straights.

Tayab I was rowing through the gears using the lever on the steering wheel. Maybe not so in this video which was taken on the first few laps. Let me try another video next time!

Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Good to know the brembos made such a difference and great throttle management too. Was there a bit of understeer or just my idea?

thanks guys... the next trip i make next month i will make sure i have more videos onbaord and along the straights.

Alext car corners flat because it was aided by the H&R swaybars and kw3. car was in sports+ , DSC / traction off..

Jannisa you are right, car has massive understeer, I thought i wasnt pushing the car hard enough initially but later in the session trying different speed going into the turns doesnt help the least bit. the engine was cutting power to the wheels all the time

Have you checked with BMW/your dealer to see if there are any ECU/DCT software updates for your build?

I checked because of an issue with my DCT recently, and they've reprogrammed the DCT.. noticed quite a difference.

maniacGT the car sw was last upgraded late last year... will you happen to know what is the revision you are running on? seems like its worthwhile to give that a try

landshark, I had misfires and knocks while on map 7, the high track temp and oil temp certainly did not help
