Airbag/child carrier Warning Stickers
Has anyone removed or tried to remove the waring decals on the sun visors. I hate them - they weren't there when we picked it up on ED. Obviously the gov trying to save me from myself again. They look like decals thought about soaking them with a sponge to get them wet and remove them. Any thoughts, suggestions?

I used a cotton rag sprayed with Goof Off. Started on one edge until it softened then was basically able to peel off the sticker. Stickers came off in less than a minute. Do this with the roof open, the fumes are pretty strong from this product. I used a vinyl care product on the sunshades afterwards.
It's funny you mentioned they weren't there for ED, I honestly can't remember if they were on or not.

Haven't had the chance to check out if they can be removed, so your question is timely. I'm going to try 3M adhesive remover. |

Thanks - please let me know exactly what you do as I will repeat on my wife's car. Agreed - they were not there at ED but once they hit the states on go the decals and stickers.

Google "corvette black warning stickers" or check a Corvette forum. A couple vendors offer black stickers to put over the yellow stickers. They have to be trimmed down to fit the Z4 yellows, but when done, they cover perfectly and the problem goes away. Have had them in place for 6 months of Florida summer and no peeling etc.

Thanks for the various ideas. I completed my sun visor sticker removal today. I found it easiest to first remove the visors (25 Torx tip screws 2 plcs each visor). Next experimented with a few household solvents, paint thinner, (mineral spirits) and lacquer thinner on the passenger visor. Lacquer thinner is the quickest way and no harm way to go. Wet a cloth with lacquer thinner and then lightly rub the cloth on the sticker. It will soak through and begin to break the sticker down and loosen up the adhesive below. Next wet the cloth again and rub the sticker it will easily remove with light rubbing pressure, gone in less than 2 minutes time. Next wet a tooth brush with the lacquer thinner and gently brush any remaining adhesive from the visor grain. Again wet the cloth and gently wipe down the visor to remove any residual sticker adhesive. I then wiped off the visor with Zaino leather cleaner and leather conditioner (even thought the visors are not leather) to give them that good clean look & smell. No stickers no remnants. Reinstall the visors with 25 Torx tip screws. Complete in 30 minutes.

I can tell you right now that Goo Gone doesn't do a thing. (thought I'd start with the mild stuff first)
It feels more like it is printed on, rather than a sticker. Is that what yours was like? |

With mineral spirits (paint thinner) all I was able to do was barely loosen an edge and peel off tiny pieces (1/8"). Not sure if it is some type of sticker or decal. But really the lacquer thinner will not harm the simulated leather (naugahyde/plastic) surface of the visor, no discoloration, no degradation of the surface. Just use the lacquer thinner lightly at first and let it soak into the decal/sticker for about a minute. Then get your rag pretty damp with lacquer thinner and start whipping at the sticker it will come off easily. Rewet the rag with lacquer thinner to clean the remaining sticker & adhesive. The lacquer thinner evaporates off the surface of the visor and your rag rapidly so rewet as required.

ahhhh....much better now without those awful warning labels. Thanks HerrK.
I was out of lacquer thinner, and while I had Acetone, that stuff dries too fast. So took a quick run up to the hardware store - the lacquer thinner made them pretty much wipe right off. |
