Satellite Radio

When I purchased my 2010 Z4 35i a few weeks ago, the dealer told me that I'd have to wait to get satellite radio installed as there is currently a software issue.

The waiting is driving me crazy. Has anyone else had the same thing told to them? Or, more importantly, has anyone had the dealer install satellite and have it work OK?

Thanks

my satellite radio came with a years free subscription. When I was at the dealer picking up the car, they activated it while I sat in the car. It works great.

We have a custom ordered 2010 s35i received mid October 2009 that is equipped with satellite radio - absolutely no problems and have not had any software updates.

Best regards,
Ed

so i guess i am missing somethere here. i think you are saying you car did not come with sat. radio and you want it installed but cannot because of some type of software issue? i have sat radio installed from the factory and it has been perfect. if it was not installed at the factory, i can understand there being issues.

The 2011 model year have satellite standard. My car is a 2010 and didn't come with satellite, but the dealer can still add it. They just say there continues to be a software issue that prevents them from doing so. I hate waiting! My 545i (that I traded in for the Z4) had satellite and I miss it.

Maybe they're saying it's an update for the cars with the dealer installed sat radio module.

Sounds strange though. Maybe the dealers are installing a non-BMW (third party) module to save a buck.

teagueAMX that would be my guess but unknown as ot how they would integrate it with the BMW software and functionality. That may be the SW issue thoiugh..
