What do you use to clean inside your 19" rims
Even though I have only driven my Z4 400 kms I have washed it three times and each time I struggle to get my wash mitt into the inside area of my 19”rims that I want to keep clean as it is visible. I was wondering how others reach into that tight area to clean the inside of the rim? I have not been able to find an appropriately shaped and sized brush for that task. I did see an attachment for a drill on the Adam’s wax video that looked neat but it is not available locally here in Canada.
Any ideas or recommendations? Thank You, RET |

Soft bristle brush from Crappy Tire not available? BavAuto on-line has something you might like. I used to have 'look nice but a bitch to clean' cross-spokes on my 528i. The main reason I changed 'em was because cleaning became a chore. Good luck with yours.

AutoZone carries a house brand wash "mop" that works very nicely. The 6 inch handle is black and gray, and it has a blue mop like cleaning part (soft, fluffy type fiber) that is approximately 9 inches long and 6 inches wide when not wet. Use it with the same car wash and water as for the rest of the vehicle. It fits very nicely.
For those times when you want to clean the brake dust away without actually washing the car, AutoZone carries a "Zwipes" double duster set with yellow color cleaning fiber. It's kind of like a cheap California Duster. The long duster in the set fits perfectly between the spokes and reaches all the inside area of the wheel. The small duster in the set is good for cleaning the outside of the wheels and the inner "groove" in the rim immediately behind the spokes. They're cheap enough you can throw them away after a dozen or so times cleaning the wheels that way, and start with a fresh set. Best regards, Ed |

I personally vouch for this little jewel from AutoGeek.Net:
Laitner Ergonomic Spoke/ Slot Wheel Brush - LA-10978P as well as Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel 32 oz. - OPT-1200 mix 50% water for good looking, but not too shiny tires and it works great on all rubber and plastic [like cutting down on the CTC noise [Close Top Creaks] Last edited by ChuckB; 04-08-2010 at 03:55 PM.. |

I would start by taking off the wheels, cleaning thoroughly and waxing (2 to 3 coats with a synthetic sealer like Klasse AIO) inside and out. You'll find that cleaning in the future is much easier, especially in areas that are hard to reach.

I have the 18" multi spoke which are even tighter to get through and I use the Daytona speed master detail brush which gets all the way to the back. I also periodically use wheel wax which makes cleaning easier thereafter. Wheel wax also adds more lustre and makes your wheels pop. I am a perfectionist and won't let anyone else near my car.

Thanks to everyone for their great advice and ideas
I too am a perfectionist and need to keep my cars and bikes in as new condition. I like cleaning my car almost as much as driving it.
Thanks again to everyone one, RET |

I use the BMW wheel Cleaner - with a 3 - 4 inch paint brush to get into the small areas - then just hose off - quick and easy -

I tried that brush. The bristles flatten. The Daytona retains it shape and in my opinion is worth the extra money and it goes all the way to the back of the wheels.
