How often do you use the roof ?

I own a 09 Z4 and love to open the roof when driving, the roof been operated more than 100 times (but less than 200) before the hydraulic pump cooked.

Just want to know how often u guys use the roof before encounter any failure issues?.....thanks for sharing.

09 here as well. Same as you, more than 100, less than 300. Only had one issue one time where the roof wouldnt finish the closing cycle after releasing and repressing the close button mid cycle. Had to lock the car and wait a few minutes. Afterwards it was fine and finished the closing cycle using the key in door handle method. No issues ever since. My iDrive screen has done the same twice. Ie wouldnt close by itself upon ejecting the key. Waited a few minutes outside with the car locked and it was fine again... pretty random

I almost never drive with the roof up. Maybe one day when my pump gives up I will attempt to remove the roof alltogether. Maybe...

I am opening/closing the roof daily at least twice, also in not so good weather conditions and in winter. Starting from the beginning, I have encountered very rare problems with the trunk locks, but so far only for 5 mins each time.

I've used mine probably 100 times since purchasing last summer with no issues. Knock on wood! :-)

Every time I drive the car even when its really cold with- heat blasting at 75.

My estimate is somewhere around 1500 over a 3 year period. No issues with the pump but had issues with noises which were resolved with periodic lubrication of the top.

Personally, I think you're better off using it often to keep all the parts (Especially hoses) lubricated and in good condition
