Parking brake dash light / sensor
Hi everyone,
A bit new to the forums, but avid reader. Looking for some help on my 2011, E89. While starting up the car, I saw the battery icon appear on the dash. That quickly went away, but then while trying to release the parking brake, something tripped and I now have the parking brake yellow dash light on. The parking brake will no longer engage. I emailed the guys at Bavarian Technic, but they said that their tool doesn't support resetting the parking brake sensor. (I assume the sensor just tripped and needs to be reset). Anyone have any ideas on how to do this without taking it to the dealer. (It is out of warranty). Pictures attached of the dash-lights. Appreciate the input. |

Do not rule out a low battery, assuming it's the original in the car from '11. When the batteries in these cars get low they can cause a myriad of odd warnings/errors.

Battery icon showed up when I first got my car, since it had been sitting for some time.
Definitely a good idea to check on that before going for a deeper dive into the parking brake mechanism |
