Comfort Access Key Slot?

Just curious why the comfort access equipped Z4s still have the dash key slot. When I was inspecting my car that just arrived at the dealership for delivery next week, I thought at first that the CA option was not on the car since other BMW models with CA do not have the key slot on the dash under the pushbutton start. Anyone know the purpose for this?

Enables the dealer to do a vehicle data download via key FOB at service checkin.

The manual says the CA keys are not rechargable... in this country at least...

Having the slot saves BMW from making a cover plate, and lets the valet guy do what he does with all the cars...

CA keys don't charge, but it is good to insert the key now and then for the data copy. Like said for maintenance purposes.

The CA keys battery is not chargeable, hence, you will need to change the battery when it dies.
The only thing I can think of is as HerrK said; your car DATA downloads...

Make that two of us. My salesman had indicated I should occasionally put the CA key in to recharge the battery so I never even thought to read the page in the manual covering this.
