Fitting winter wheels

I purchased Sport Edition CE 17x.7.5 wheels fitted with blizzaks from Tire Rack. Over the phone the rep said they should fit no problem even though they weren't listed for the E89 on the website. Problem is, the wheel will not turn, I have the lugs hand tight and I can't get the wheel to budge (it spun freely with the stock 19s). It looks like it is rubbing against the brake housing, you can see a mark on the inside of the rim where it seems to be rubbing. Tire Rack is closed on Sunday, so I was wondering if anyone has encountered this or something similar.

Thanks,

__
Pete

When you have the car jacked up, the rear wheel will not spin free (due to the brake). The front wheel on the other hand will spin. I mention this just in case you did not know this.

I have in the summer the 19" stock wheels. For the winter I have now the 18 inch wheels (8x18 on all four corners). I had the same concern you now mention in your post. So I had the fellow measure for me the inside diameter of the wheels he had for sale before I purchased them. The inside of the 18 inch wheels I purchased was just a shade under one inch smaller then my 19 inch wheels. So then I measured the space between the brake calliper and the inside diameter of my 19 inch stock wheels (front and back) and found that there will be ample clearance when I mount the 18 inch wheel.

Can you do the same to check if your wheel has clearance between the brake calliper and your inside wheel diameter? Or simply measure your stock wheel inside diameter and compare it to your 17 inch inside diameter then calculate what clearance you should end up with.

Good Luck

Certain 17" rims don't fit the front brakes are almost 14" you need minum 18" to be sure. I think tire rack won't have a problem exchanging them for you.

Tire Rack is exchanging them, I am going to measure the inside diameters when I get home.

The tech department said the sales guy should not have sold me those wheels, that they were not even listed for the 35i.

Thanks for the help!
