Question How to get pops on DCT gearchange?

I've only been able to do it a couple of times. Is there any specific method that results in the pops and bangs? Specific RPM for example? I think I was in Sport mode and manual shift.

you mean from the exhaust?? my car does it even when i'm at a stop light, the second i take my foot of the brake and unto the gas pedal the exhaust gargles and pops, upshifts not so much, but in every single downshifts it does. if i switch to sport or sport + it does it even more.

an older lady that lives on my street one day walked over to my house and told me that my car scared her because of the screaming sound from my exhaust.

I get mine the loudest when I roll (without applying throttle) in 2nd or 3rd gear and ~2000-3000rpm and then downshift, nice and easy.

I find I have to be in sport of sport + mode and the shifter to the left, and then it pops like a proper british sports car used to.

Thanks for the replies. I was meaning the burp sound from the exhaust you hear in the videos at the 1st-2nd shift on DCT.

I did the golf tee mod and it gives a lot more audible burbling at cruising rpm.

Downshifting you mean? And in which videos? Maybe you watched video's with aftermarket exhausts?

I notice the "pop" the most in manual mode non-sport or sport-+. When I add the sport mode the shifts are too fast for the RPM's to drop causing the pop. Sounds a little like a blow-off valve.

Yep normal. Although the car tends to make that sound when the engine is colder. There is a DIY guide somewhere in the forum (probably the 335 section) showing you how to keep the flap open, you simply remove the vacuum line which goes to the flap to plug it (right side end pipe). It makes the exhaust gurgles more pronounced and the tone more deep.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try it in normal mode. I guess the extra time between shifts in normal mode is what it needs

pops and farts

Alex - I experimented for ages to get the popping just right.
I find the loudest sounds come when you accelerate hard, but ease off as it changes into second.
This seems to work best every time.
Its easiest when you take off around a corner, as it is a natural timing to accel, then ease off, but with practice I do it on command most times to either thrill kids on the footpath when I take off from the lights or just to annoy Audi drivers.

Note - it doesn't matter which setting you make, normal, sports or sports plus all do it.

Haha thanks for the info Stig. I was actually thinking about letting off the throttle too. Better to use manual mode right?

I do it mainly in D mode.

When I am in M mode I dont want to ease off the throttle.
