I just had the Z aligned and was very surprised too find out how much negative camber is allowed on the rear. BMW says -1.8 to -2.9. That is extremely aggressive. I have never run a car race or street with that much negative camber in the rear. No wonder rear tires do not last.

I am trying a little experiment. I currently have the rears set at -1.0. So far I am not noticing any negative handling attributes. Rear tires will last much longer. Once we have some dry days I will push it in the twisties to see the difference.

Factory settings on the front look fine.

rear tires with -1 degree semms to wear quite regularly, not only the inner edges .....pretty good....instead the front need at least -0.7 of negative camber and a little of other adjustments, just to compensate understeer....it goes better, far better....ask me how I know...

Do you need a camber kit to change the rear camber? does the car feels planted at high speed camber? thanks !

No camber kit needed. At -1.0 degree the adjustment is right in the middle. The rear has a huge range of adjustment. Car feels very planted and stable.

Thanks again for making those CAD drawings much appreciated.

An update on the cracked wheel, I am waiting for a resolution from BMW (US Customer Service). I am dealing with the Manager (having been referred to the US office by the Canadian office - since it all happened in the US).

Let us hope it will be resolved by Christmas

Meanwhile I have my winter/wheel/tire set on and loving it. Feels like a different car. I can once again hear myself think and enjoy my music with normal volume I have photos in my garage (under the last photo album).
