Strange Triangle on my iDrive display

I noticed last night a small triangle (solid black) next to the mobile coverage bars on my iDrive display.
(in the top right hand side of the display wher eyou get time, audio source and mobile reception bars).
It was on the middle level next to the reception indicator.

I could see no errors or faults in the system, I have not recently had a software update, but I dont remember seeing that icon before?

Anyone have any idea?

That's your car telling you you're roaming. So drive faster.

Might be a glitch in the program ... perhaps a program line got damaged during reloading etc. It does happen. I would have the dealer re-load the software or inquire with the dealer what it might be.

Good luck

Did you get the triangle in the center Instr display also? Usually they are redundant. Try checking the car status in Idrive for oil, brakes, service, fuel, etc.

WTF.....I wasn't kidding about the roaming part. It's in the manual.

I believe you
But I looked earlier and could not find it in the manual, what page or section is it in?

Yup seriously it 'is' in the manual. Google it, many BMW owners have asked this question before.

Does the icon go away or is it always there? We could rule out, it being a feature

Thanks Juhap.
It is definitely the roaming symbol. The mystery is why it came up as I was on my regular route near home and I don't have roaming active on my phone.
Good news is that it has gone away and it didn't relate to an error or fault with the car.

Re:

I get this as recently two phone networks in my area merged.

The phone flips over to the other network automatically now if the other has no service and the roamng symbol comes on.
