My "Winter" Set-up (Z435is)

Well, it is that time of year again...

Since my 17" winter set-up from my 2009 E89 would not fit my "is," I replaced them with the 18" Sport Edition KM-11s (ET32) and I'm pleased with the look. Rubber is Conti DWS (225/40)--yes I know, not a dedicated winter tire, but for my needs I just don't require a winter compound (my previous 17" were Dunlop WinterSport). I have my wife's X5d for those days--which I also had to change from my 214 20s" to 18s"

I'm OCD, so every year after I swap out the wheels, I clean them good and inspect everything. Unfortunately, both my right front and rear tires on the inner side were "slashed" by something and both my 326M rims have large nics on the inside. I believe this may have occurred when the car had been on the lot for months, since I would recall running over something I check my pressures every week and never noticed any problems. Now I need to decide if I should just replace the 2 RFT tires or for the price of 2 Potenzas, buy 4 non-RFT and hope I can remount these suspect tires before turn-in. Or, keep my fingers crossed and hope the tires never fail when I tend to drive "aggressively"--but better safe than sorry... I'll post pics of the tires later.

I recently put on Conti DWS as well, but will drive them year-round. I went with 235/35ZR19 and 265/30ZR19 and have no complaints at all so far. Quite the contrary actually. The ride quality has much improved over the OE Potenza RFT which were an impertinence. Also, I have the infamous 296 wheels and hope to avoid cracks with the Contis. Some people have had good experience after switching away from RFTs.

Ironically, I had the 296s on my 2009 E89 and never had cracks. Then I take off these 326Ms and find two tires are "slashed"

YIKES!
that makes you think twice before WOT on an on-ramp. WE just never know the readiness of the vehicle to perform above nominal 30-40%.
I love your winter setup.
