Question Tire pressures for non-runflat Bridgestones?

This afternoon I'm replacing the OE RFTs on my 2013 35i with a set of Bridgestone S04 Pole Position tires. I've noticed a certain amount of chatter on the forum about what pressures to run when making the shift to non-RFTs and I'm wondering why any change in pressures would be required? Tirerack says to run the same pressures as before for normal street driving. Comments?

Those are good tires. I had them and liked them a lot. Same pressure.

They run a fairly close second to PSS, are quite a bit cheaper and are readily available from Costco so it will be convenient to replace the rears when they wear out before the fronts.

You would not want to change the air pressure to maintain the same amount of stiffness in the tire while driving. I have tried several different tire and pressure combinations for regular street driving and the only thing that i have been happy with is running the recommended tire pressures. You can find that in the door jam on the drivers side

Right; thanks. I figure on going with the recommended pressures and keeping an eye on tire wear.

The main difference between S-04 and PSS is tread wear. PSS will double the tread life.

Well that's not good news as that's an important factor to me. I knew PSS was better, but I figured cost differential would compensate for that. We'll just have to see how it goes I guess!

+1 on starting off with same tire pressures as the placard. Might also want to try emailing the tire manufacturer
