How do we as Z owners feel about the LCI?
http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=782431
Perhaps not very big of a change, but I do dig the new head light. Now it just makes me wonder about possibility of retrofitting and whether it'd ever be worth it. thoughts? anyone?

I feel if the side marker was wrapped to black it might look interesting.

I posted in the main thread. My reaction?
Although I'm a little puzzled by all of the hate from non-Z4 owners in the thread.

The lights are nice...
Think all the haters are just jealous that our car looks so classy and is just as fast as they are... |

A single R or L headlight pod/module assy for the Pre LCI is $1250 each. I would expect similar or more for the LCI versions. $2500 parts + DYI or labor if your not inclined. Not worth it IMO. You may be able to retro the LED for the Halos with a little work. Side markers on the other hand look much better than the existing white bloobs IMO and appear to be a direct drop in replacement. No change to fender stamping that would cost serious manufacturing, production, spare, replacement costs on BMW's part. All the talk of new 18" wheel designs does sound interesting. That will be interesting to see.

Here in the UK they're delivering an 18i !!!?!!! An 18i... talk about range dilution. Not keen on the side markers, maybe they'll grow on me, and I've already put LEDs into my halos so don't need the new headlights. As for the horrid new interior.. eeek. I do want to see what the 'new wheel range' looks like though!

Me neither. I'm actually fine with the white side markers, but that might be because I have a white car

Not sure where all the hate comes from. I have had the 35is for 3 years and it is the most fun BMW I have owned, and that includes a Z3 MRoadster and the last 3 generations of M3! It looks great and is quick as hell, way more fun in real world driving than the low end torque deprived E92 M3! Sure the quirky steering means I am a little more reserved than in the M3, but plenty of grip for on/off ramps twisty backroads and 99% of real world driving. I did ditch the run flats for Conti DW's with wider Fr and R tires. Drove around Sebring and it is a blast. OK it is not the track monster of the Boxster or an M, but don't knock it just for that. Sure a full on M version would be nice, but it has the 1M engine so all we are talking is suspension and brake upgrades. Pricey yes, but for what I want currently it is fine. My lease is up next spring and I will probably lease another for a couple more years until the next M3 is out.

I like the headlights and will probably retrofit them (since dimensions and shape looks identical) but the side markers kinda makes it look Japanese-no offense.

So I think people who own BMWs, but who will never own a Z4, wish the Z4 was more of a flagship than it appears to be. If we look to Benz, they have the SLS AMG roadster, a car the C-class drivers can feel proud of somehow. So the Z4 is easy to hate for not being a flagship model. But personally I do not want a V8 in a BMW. Its either I6 or V12... 2) Some haters say it is too expensive. They should go to Singapore then. That will put US car prices into perspective. But yes, it is an expensive car, but a 911 cabriolet, which is uglier, costs twice as much as a Z4 here in China. The haters are comparing the Z to a 3-series which is in a completely different segment all together. 3) Finally some haters complain there is no M coupe version. And no is not an M car. It is also not an X car. Its a Z car. And people who just want M cars should not buy X or Z cars, no matter what the BMW marketing department says. In fact they should buy one of the older M coupes with NA I6 engines BTW this LCI did not come with the LED brake lights I was hoping for. I am also not getting the new headlamps because I think the golden corona rings match better with the golden color of my car (orion silver). All in all I am very happy BMW is keeping this car almost the same for another 3 years. |

I am digging the new eyebrow DRL's...would love to retrofit on mine if they are not superbly expensive (will wait for aftermarket to get them or scrounge used car parts sites).
The new side markers are now an ode to the Z8 side markers - guess will have to see in person to appreciate, however the metal finish breaks the monotony of the car's paint and getting them black anodized would be yummy - similar to the black front grills..
