Help: routing cable into engine bay
Hi,
I want to route an cable into the engine bay, but unable to find an route - anyone done this? Taken cover below glove box when replacing an blown fuse, but unable to find an route into the engine bay. What I am trying ot achieve is to get power via USB or Cig lighter to my JB4 Connect Kit. So I have two options: 1) Power the JB4Connect Kit via an internal source, so route an USB cable from the cabin into the engine bay 2) Power the JB4Connect Kit via an source from the engine bay (USB or CIG) http://jb4connectkit.com/store/index...&product_id=50 Below is an video from an E92 [u2b]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VypGDrUtvks&noredirect=1[/u2b] Help very much appreciated, as routing the cable via the door - is causing an puddle every time it rains!

why cant you grab +5v DC from under the hood? I suspect that you might be making this more complicated than it needs to be. I actually pulled a trigger off my halos once to power some leds only when the vehicle was on. I used a voltage sensing relay that triggered a separate +5v to the leds when the halos were on. I wouldn't go with this approach for this application but you could tap into some other switched power source under there.

When I had a JB4 in mine I installed the Connect Kit in the glove box getting USB power from the port that is in there. To get a wire from the engine bay to the glove box, open the electronics box cover on the drivers side of the engine bay (the harness from the DME routes into this box) and you can easily send a wire into the drivers footwell.

Please help!
I am trying to route a power cord into the drivers footwell like you say, but after I removed the cover of the box on the drivers side under the hood, I don't see any way to easily send a cable through. Am I missing something? |

Hi,
I routed power from the USB socket under the central arm rest- And feeded under the rubber in the door sill - or clip it under the plastic trim on the transmission channel
