My Valencia Orange Boys Toy

Hello,

after 5 years with a Havanna brown E89 Z4 sDrive 30i I bought last year august a new E89 sDrive 35is. After some modifications it was finalized with new rims from F80/82 series to my personal "Zett" up 2016.

Now you have to retrofit the performance brakes again
Any other mods planned?
I am thinking of buying the final edition of the E89 35is too....but no word of BMW yet if there even gonna be a special edition.

Hello,

for the moment nothing special planned for this year.

As the 35is brakes are bigger than the 30i brakes i will test how it feels on our tours. In the german forum their are two user with brakes combination of M5 E60/F10 but does not fit plug and play .

First road trip this year will be a holiday to Sardinia, then we will see.

Last holidays with the brown was to Croatia ;-)

Very nice car. The Valencia orange is the best color choice for the Z4 IMHO. Tell us more how it feels like compared to the 30i. It's more than 100kg heavier so does the handling suffer? And do you miss the old NA engine or does the extra power let you forget everything?

Hello,

there are different views on the 35is compared to the former driven 30i.
It took some time till I had the handling in the 35is which I prefer and had in the old 30i. I changed to Eibach Pro Kit springs to lower the car and changed to H&R anti-roll bars and a Wichers strut bar. Track and fall were adjusted by a german racing team, to eliminate the umderstearing. So you see that the current set up is not comparable with the BMW standard set up
From that point of view I'm happy with the current handling.
One of the biggest differences is to my opinion the change from automatic gearbox to 7 gear DKG which react more direct to the paddels or the throttle.
With the additonal power and the turbo I need to change my driving style, as you need to take more care how to use the throttle in the moment you change in the curve from brake into push. With the 30i it was more or less a no brainer for a full pull, but now it need to have a more sensitive use.

Overall I'm really happy with the change don't miss the 30i but also don't forget the five nice years together.

Wow. Very impresive mods I must say. Looks like you build yourself the ultimate Z4 for the road and the track and it looks absolutely stunning. Post some more pictures when you have the time.

Please try if you can see the pictures out of my posts in the german zroadster.com forum.

Oh really? But you probably don't like driving through Slovenia, because of our bad roads and heavy traffic in the summer. I go on vacation several times a year to Croatia in the summer as well, well most Slovenians go there. It is close to us and it is quite beautiful... and cheap Maybe we'll meet there once, I mean the Z4 is a rare car on the road and your orange paint makes it hard to miss.

Hello,

currently I don't think that we will go to Croatia this year again, as we stayed last year twice in mai and september in Porec for two weeks and made a lot of day trips from there. We also visited Koper and Lipizza in SLO and saw the Red Bull Air Race in Rovinj.

Traffic was not realy an issue on our 700km trips from home till Porec with the exception at the SLO/HR border close to Dragonja.

Yes they are. These are the regular F80 or F82 and new F87 (M2) rims, but with a different size of tyres. I used 235/35-19 and 265/30-19.
