255's at the rear again 235's at the front, can't say I'm happy about it, but the C63 AMG S has been confirmed. I wish they had stuck with the 265's that were on the test cars. I'm re-thinking the AMG. I can have a C63 killer with a tuned and modded C450. Not happy at all.

8 inch fronts and 9 inch rears?
that is GARBAGE, and not nearly enough contact patch / wheel for that car that's a mistake imo. sorry, rev me. tough news

Yeah, I don't want a traction control constantly going off as I'm trying to pull away. Mercedes really had the chance to make the C63 a winner in the performance category. I'm seriously thinking about going an getting my deposit back.

0-60 in 3.8 and the 1/4 mile in 12.2. I don't think those numbers were achieved via lack of traction. Quote:
The W204 C63 507 (with 507 horsepower) has 255s and nobody has been complaining about that. And even psychologically, if you're more comfortable with 265s, I don't think there's an easier thing to do than swap out the tires.

Why did they remove some camo? This isnt a strip tease...
Now they are gonna receive feedback on the bare panels and the designers will get insecure.

Most of the guys complaining about the tire width on the AMG boards never pushed their car hard enough to find the OEM tires' limits in the first place. On the other hand, there are a select few pushing the envelope so much (via aggressive mods like tunes, supercharger kits, etc.) that they've had to switch to 265 or 275's. And those incrementally larger sizes cope with well over 550 horsepower. I think that speaks more to how well suited the 255s really are for the car. In any event, lost in all of this tire width tsuris was how damn good those 18" wheel choices look! You get a classic AMG 5-spoke option and another option that looks better than aftermarket. Blows the F80 M3 18" wheel away, IMO.

I can understand your initial disappointment though. 265s were spotted on mules on a few occasions. To further mollify any concerns that may linger, I can tell you with confidence that my 255-section Continental 5Ps were always outstanding when the car was stock. Even when the temperatures dipped into the 40s, I would experience wheel hop rather than full out spin. They were really trying to grab hold of that frosty pavement. Hell, I even had acceptable traction with 225s on all four corners this winter.

the wheels are too narrow for a car of that size and weight IMO. wider wheels increase stability and grip. the car would be better with wider wheels. doesn't mean it still wont be a good car

It's probably 100x more fun with the stock tires, sort of like a BRZ. You can always add more aggressive wheels and tires if you plan on tracking or just don't have a lot of self control with the loud pedal. People spending C63 money shouldn't have any issues coughing up for some decent track wheels, tires and pads anyway.

The flip side of that is the narrower size becomes a blessing in these same reviews when the reviewer wanted to have some fun with the car (intentionally going sideways, burnouts, etc.). The C63 has always had a reputation as a hooligan and I think 255s facilitate the car's manic/composed duality. Quote:

If I recall the C63 has the title of the thinnest tires per horsepower on of a production car (ignoring hyper cars).
The new C63 would be perfect with 285's |

Haha I saw this on TV the other night. Good advertising. Made the switch myself from BMW this year (still really like their cars and excited for the new M3). AMG is putting out some very impressive cars.

That is a good one. I'd sure like to own an SLS Black before I die.

I want the M156 before I die. Nothing will replace the 6.2, nothing.
