Tranquility,

Other than trying to avoid any injuries, don't over-think this; it just isn't that complicated to jack up your car, remove the nuts (with or w/o a power wrench) and replace your summer tires. Yes, it's possible to over-torque the nuts, but if you're careful, you'll be totally fine.

Should take you less than 20 minutes.

Dave

I just came back from Can Tire and bought this impact wrench and jack; the reviews are wide-ranging, from ok to bad. Not sure if you guys have any comments. I will need some chockers to secure the diagonal wheel but probably won't get any stands.

How am I not taking in all the useful advice in this thread? This is just something I never did before and want to do it correctly, that's all.

If you don't feel like giving more input, then don't. I'm not forcing you to...

Tranquility, you're good to go with the impact wrench & the jack and the appropriate sized attachment (either 17mm or 19mm) and just make sure the attachments are made or designed to be used with the impact wrench.

Definitely don't need to put the car up on stands. You'll be fine!
Dave

Hey Rolf, slow day on the M3 forum!?....

No harm meant at all I just think you would ask someone to help you first is all. Don't talk about input my friend look back in this thread, I made every effort to help you out. I'm just done, is all.

Good luck

Dave no worries, I am sure you know what I meant.

I don't get it. You give really useful info but then spin around in a 180 and say silly stuff like "why don't you ask your dad or a friend who knows how to change tires". Well, obviously, if my dad's still around or if I have a handyman friend, why would I bother to start a thread which supposedly frustrates (a) certain ppl(person) because apparently I'm asking too many questions...just for kicks?

Seriously, Rolf, you're done, that's fine; again, I'm not forcing you to squeeze more knowledge out if you don't want to partake in this thread any further. Thx for your past good advice. Really. However, I'm perplexed by your behavior and just don't see the need for this "You don't seem to listen; I'm done" tone. Esp when I *am* listening and just asking follow-up questions. You for one should appreciated this since you're the one emphasizing the first priority on safety. I don't wanna get squashed by my Z4 just because I've been dissuaded from asking more questions about safety/tools/etc.

You know what, keep your shirt on ... just have Dave visit you (he is after all in the same city as you) to give you a hand I just don't want to read about you ending up in the hospital.

When I said I am done ... it meant I'm done trying to help you out so let that be the end of it okay.

All the time I spend trying to help you man, here you miss-interpid the written word and fly of the handle ... enough said

Have a good time changing your wheels just take care....

They've been changing my tires since I was old enough to drive. If the tire is already mounted and balanced on the wheel and it's just a matter of unbolting the set on the car and swapping them out, they charge $10 bucks a corner + they're very effficient. If they aren't busy they'll have you in and out in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Never once had a problem with them. http://www.tirestires.com:2280/tires/index2.html
Like most things, relationships and loyalty pay off. I have been buying all of my tires from the same place for 13 years now. They take care of me. Seasonal tire/rim changes are $10 per corner and regular rotations (10,000Kms for most vehicles) are free. In & Out in under 30 mins.

I definitely didn't misinterpret anything you've written. Don't worry, I won't end up in the hospital.
