you're not really light painting, which is as i understand it, capturing the motion of a light-source over a period of time in the photo. this is more like compositing multiple images where each part contains the best lit scenario. it's tricky if you don't understand how it works, so that your the lit areas of all the images line up as if it were one large light source.
Sorry about the late response rodi... I didn't get an email saying you replied here. Anyways, what settings are you looking for? I don't think I have the settings for the strobes, but I might have the settings on my dSLR.

We were trying light painting (not in that photo I included). As we were acquiring the image with a long shutter speed, we were holding the softbox, speedlights, etc and waving it around to light portions on the car. Sadly none really worked that great.

We tried both. We actually found a workshop light as well that we used, and that seemed to work best. But, we were only able to light paint a small piece of the car in one shot, as opposed to let's say an entire side or something.

right. you gotta crack off several photos with a strobe and stitch them later.

oh ok. you should sell your camera and use disposable ones to drop off at walmart, then.

Thanks guys.

Rodi, your example makes sense... just wondered if there was an easier way, but I guess not. Next time I'll give it a shot.
