the car looks way better with the black kidney grills....gives a aggressive look...i wonder how will it look if it was matt black

yes, if everything was black or a good balance of black and other color(i.e. white or whatever!) but my feedback was for black(sapphire) with silver mirrors as i have. just wanted an opinion. will post pics ASAP!

I prefer black as well. I guess BMW thinks silver grilles look more upscale since they are on the s35i and they put black on the s30i.

On the 30i, surrounds are chrome with slats in matte black. 35i and 35is, surrounds are chrome and slats in a matte silver/aluminum. The performance grills have gloss black surrounds and matte black slats, which is what I have.

Put me in the "I'm partial to the color I already have" crowd too, as I much prefer the look of the grille on my 35i, over the black. But hey, if it means a smoother driving car, then I think I'll head me down to Wall Mart this weekend and get me some flat black spraypaint.
