Is $975 a good price for clear bra?
I've been quoted $975 for 1/2 hood, front bumper, mirror caps 3M clear bra installation by a tint/paint protection firm in northern NJ (material + install). The dealer quoted $1095 for the same. Does $975 seem like a good deal or should I be shopping harder based on other's experience and costs?
Thanks for any feedback.

Mine was on the car when I bought it so no help here...I would go for rocker panels too if I were you, at least the rear sections as they flare out to the wheel wells because that's where the stones hit. I have one stone chip and that's where it is.....

Cost me 1000 to get the all the parts you have plus the rocker panels, the door handles, the area below the gas inlet, the front of the roof, the top of the rear bumper and the A pillars... I would say that your kit would have been quoted for about $600-$700 where I did mine...

Mine was $1500 for custom seamless look where the whole full hood and front bumper, mirror caps. It was pricey but happy with results. I've seen some porsche 911 and m6 guys that had the whole car wrapped custom.

I'm with Rafale. Keep shopping. You should be able to do better. First of the 3M film isn't as good as Venture Shield. Venture Shield offers a lifetime warranty on yellowing, cracking ,etc. However, Venture Shield was just bought by 3M so you might be too late on that one.
I got all of the following for $1k installed: lights, front bumper, extended hood, mirrors, a pillars, top of roof, door cups, door edges, rocker panels, wheel wells, below gas inlet, rear bumper below trunk -Marc |

What film did they use? I was unable to find an installer that can do the entire hood in one piece. The hood is just too big. The Venture Shield only comes on rolls that are 70 inches. To wrap the entire hood in one piece you need at least 83 inches. My installer offered to do two sections, but I didn't like the look.

Too much. Ours already had it on the car. If I were buying it I would not do it. They will eventually begin to lift around the edges. Also the paint underneathe does not fade at the same rate. If you remove it down the road the front of the car will be a different shade and need to be re-sprayed again anyway. I have painted a lot of cars and just don't believe it's worth the money.

I would definitely get the front bumper done. Had it on my last BMW and it really saved the paintwork from stone chips and made it easier to clean off bugs etc.
I am in two minds about getting the hood done though as with Ventureshield you can only get up to around the spray nozzels done I have been advised. Although lately I have been paying attention to peoples hoods and some have chips all over them. |
