DVD video with iDrive?

Hi,

Does the iDrive option automaticly plays DVD videos?

See:
(from 1.30 min.)

Or do I need the optional DVD changer?

Thanks

Can you start it stationary and then take off - will it keep playing?

No ,when you start driving the picture goes away and the message appears on the screen. For safety reason it is only allowed when the vehicle is stopped.

I think the Pro Sat Nav replaces the Pro Radio. As above, I have Sat Nav Pro and tried a DVD and it worked fine (when stationary).

Good to know! I was wondering if I was able to listen to a concert DVD while driving, but not have the video on screen.

I'll be surprised if it did. Would be great if it did play avi files.

But i suspect that you'll have to convert them to dvd format.

Clarify

Hello all.
I'm anxiously awaiting delivery of my 3.0 Z4. Can I just clarify that the prof sat nav plays dvd even though I don't have the tv tuner?
At the moment I have an E46 320Ci with navigation and tv tuner but it doesn't play dvds.
Thanks for your help!

@xenes, yes, it plays DVD without the TV function

I met someone who programmed my Z4 to watch DVD while driving 8)
Now the passenger can enjoy a DVD movie while I am driving
