Blaupunkt stereo qustion

I just got my Z4 and the basic stereo in this thing is terrible! When I initially test drove the vehicle it had the premium stereo which sounded decent. I ended up getting a different car with better options although this car had only the basic stereo. I have read through many posts regarding Blaupunkts plug and play with the amp such as the THA-275/475/555. Am I correct to assume all you need is the extension cable (mount in rear) and the plug and play adapter cable for this specific vehicle with the amp (THA-475). A few questions;
1. Do they make the adapter specifically for our car-I know I saw a thread where someone used wiring loom part #7607622016 which is the same for the E87 1 series.
2. Has anyone done this and what were the sound results?
I recently spoke to a Blaupunkt distributor and they told me these were discontinued but I know you can still find them, is anybody aware of problems with them? Thanks for ANY responses as I will be quite unhappy after spending almost 60K to not be able to hear my stereo when the top is dropped!

I am also unhappy with the standard stereo. It is surprising BMW has not addressed this common complaint at all. You would think they would want to generate positive buzz about this car instead of everyone on these boards complaining about the terrible stock stereo system.

It is amazing that in a car that is at least $50k + that the base stereo is so bad. my Toyota Camry LE a few years back had a better stereo in it, which is why I ordered the Premium Sound for $2k. I hated doing it but I couldn't live with the base system.

No they did not, however I am sure I found a post somewhere here or on another forum that used this plug and play, amp, and extension cable from Blaupunkt to achieve good results. I would just like to confirm this BEFORE purchasing these items.
