Battery is dead, how to open the trunk?
Installed a sound system. The capacitor is inline with the battery (mistake). Now the battery is dead, i cant open up the trunk. Due to the capacitor, neither i can jump start the car or charge the battery via the positive pole located up front. Is there any way to open up the trunk so i remove the damn capacitor?

Run booster cables to the terminals under the hood. It won't start the car, but it will run the accessories including the trunk release button inside the car.

I suppose if you dont have the trunk release button inside the cabin you may use the button on the Key Fob?

Not in the EU models, neither is the emergency latch inside the trunk.
As mentioned previously, read the recent battery/trunk topic with all possible options: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1019313 If your subwoofer blocks the ski-hatch/center storage compartment, you could force the trunk if it is not completely shut (as in that the electronic lock didn't engage and you still have an inch all around). If your trunk is completely locked, you can't get trough the ski-hatch and you are 100% sure you cannot use the terminals under the hood, I'm afraid you'll have to call a BMW garage to dismantle the trunk. I'm afraid it won't be cheap. |

Disconnected battery and trunk locked 2009 Z4
I have a 2009 Z4 and I disconnected the battery. Inadvertently the trunk closed and locked (oh shit). Under the hood, there is a positive post used for jump starting the vehicle. I used a portable car starter connecting to the positive post and ground to the body and turned on the portable car starter. I then pushed the open trunk button and yes the trunk opened.
