Well, I pulled the trigger on the 510 today.
Got it for a good deal, so far I'm loving it. Mint condition, box, papers, seems to have only been worn once or twice. My first watch with leather strap, it feels very nice on my wrist. This is my gift to myself for surviving open heart surgery. |

I'm really liking my 510. The PAM111 is identical except for the "8 days" on the face and the in-house movement.
The 510 movement isn't too sexy looking, the watch probably would have been just as good with a solid case back, but I think the in-house movement may help it hold it's value over time. I now officially have a watch collection! 2008 M model Rolex Sea Dweller, Seiko Orange Monster, and now my Panerai 510 All mint with boxes and papers. I have too many other cool watches I'd love to own, just don't have the funds to rock at that level, but I'd LOVE to get a Vacheron Overseas, a JLC navy Seals master compressor (the one with the rubber coated, steel framed bracelet), Patek Nautilus, vintage pre-moon Speedmaster, my birth year Submariner (1967), Royal Oak Offshore, Hublot Big Bang, a Patek Calatrava for dress-up, the list goes on and on. I think i have a good start going now though. It'll be a while before I get any more watches, although I may get a lower priced watch sooner than later. Seiko, Ball, Hamilton, and a few others might sneak in there before my next expensive purchase. |

The Vacheron Overseas has one of THE coolest looking bracelets I;ve seen.
It'll be a while before I can afford one unfortunately, I'm still down in "Rolex and Panerai" land lol. |

I really like the simple dials of most Panerais. Nice contrast from the Seadweller and Orange Monster, but not as busy as say, most Breitlings.
I really like this watch a lot http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/251293621734?lpid=82 and this one too http://www.luxurybazaar.com/items/it..._Q178T677.html Or this watch https://www.google.com/search?q=pate...%3B1536%3B1152 All of which are out of my ability to purchase for a long time. Luckily I'm not into gold watches (save for a Calatrava) so at least I've got that going for me. I did also see an IWC Portuguese in gold that piqued my interest as well. Alas, my taste in watches far outweighs my ability to collect these beautiful examples. Definitely open for donations though! lol. Last edited by mike the snake; 11-07-2014 at 04:27 PM.. |

The overseas is not as expensive as a lot of Rolex's or Panerai as you can get much bigger discounts on them. Mine was nearly 30% off the RRP.

I'm loving my PAM 510 so far.
I think the larger size (44mm) fits my wrist better than my Rolex and Seiko, which are 40mm. I just wound it for the first time since buying it. I actually like the 8-days wind-up better than automatic because I can wear my other watches for a while and not worry about it stopping. Winding only once a week is pretty cool IMO. I guess if I get any more watches I'll need to get a winder. |

I have a PAM 241 and a PAM 297 GMT... the 297 is my daily. Love these things - esp the exclusivity factor. Most don't know what a Panny is... but those who do - will definitely appreciate the watch for what it is.
Great thing about Pannys is that they have a great resale market if you decide to go 2nd hand...

Polished watches sure do scratch easily!!!
My 510 is not a virgin any more. It now has some very small scratches that will easily polish out, but due to this, I'm not going to wear it as a daily watch. I'll use my Orange Monster and my Seadweller for daily wearing. |

I've been wearing a Rolex Submariner daily for years, recently traded it for an 08 Seadweller, which I wear daily.
I really like the larger Panerai, so I think I'm going to just have to get over the easily scratched thing and just wear it and love it. My last Panerai I sold because I wasn't wearing it, for basically the same reason. I shouldn't repeat the same mistake, because I really like my 510. |

I look at these watches the same way i look at Rimowas... Pretty as all hell when they're new, but one trip overseas and those suitcases take a beating. But, it's all part of the charm and adds some character to it. You won't be disappointed with a Panny - the size, weight, etc... Love that crown protector
