PAL on/off?
Quick (admittedly) DUMB question, but one I hope is easy to answer.
When you drive alone (no one in the passenger seat) is your "Passenger AirBag OFF" light illuminated or not? In my wife's 128i, it illuminates on startup but then goes off if I'm driving by myself. For the life of me, I can't remember it's behavior in both my previous E85s (I feel like I remember it acting like the 128 when driving alone, but not 100% on that). At any rate, in the IS, when I'm by myself it's illuminated the entire time. If someone is sitting there, then it goes off. Does yours do the same or is does it illuminate on startup and then extinguish if driving alone? And yes, I looked at the manual, and to be honest it didn't make it the easiest to discern what behavior is correct. Any insight is appreciated. |

my car doing the same. Came from e53 and e90, this was kinda weird to me too. But when I got a f30 as loaner, they do the same too. So i think that's normal.

Crap - I JUST had a 2014 X3 as a loaner (128i's amplifier crapped out) and forgot to look! At any rate, thanks for the response. If one more person replies with the same info, I'll take it as normal.

There are pressure sensors in the passenger seat of most new cars. They only activate the passenger airbag if someone is sitting there. If an airbag is defeatable, it has a warning light to tell you when it's off.

Bump.
Would anyone else mind confirming that their PAL OFF light remains illuminated whilst driving alone? Just trying to confirm this as Normal Vehicle Function. Thanks. |
