LOL, talk about a serious derailment. I blame it on the posts above mine.

The new SLK is different and alright if you want something else but it's less sporty than the BMW and does it even have a dual-clutch tranny?
Anyway, back on topic...so...I know I drive a Z4 when, after comparing to competitors from other premium brands (e.g. Porsche, Audi, Mercedes-Benz), I know that I made the right choice.

You know you drive a Z4 when you are told that you are in a mid life crisis.

You know you drive a Z4 when the light turns green while you're in the middle of putting your top down and traffic has to wait for you.

I know I drive a Z4 when I walk toward it in the morning and think "Damn that's a nice looking car! And it is MINE!"

Talking

when you park outside a seaside cafe and complete strangers start touching your newly washed car...

Little known facts about BMW: 1) The N54 is still in production and used in the current Z4 35i and 35is. 2) In a Z4 you can get sport+ steering combined with normal suspension etc by selecting DSC=off. (Update: DSC=off also offers sports steering in the M135i) 3) All Z4s with 19" wheels are still only offered with the worst performing OEM tires ever sold with a DCT equipped BMW (Potenza RE 050 RFT).

Is this an Asian thing? I've seen a few pictures of people posing next to a Z4, and they all happen to be Asian. Don't get me wrong, the Z4 is a beautiful car and I wouldn't be surprised if people admired it (I see people turn their heads all the time as I drive by, both walking and driving) but to stand next to and touch the vehicle for a picture... a bit excessive don't you think? Sorry if this is a bit racist or offensive to anyone, but was just wondering if this was a cultural thing.

Nobody would ever take photos let alone pose with my 35iS considering there are Veyrons parked on the streets here.

It just happened again. Unfortunately I was on the phone so I did not manage to get a picture of it.

Whether it is Asian I do not know haha there are so many places in the world where I have never driven a Z4.

that's extremely disrespectful to other people's property and yes its most likely an asian (china) thing. Next time you should walk over and put your arm around the chick's shoulder and grab a boob while the boyfriend is taking a picture. Tit for tat right?

No so much photogenic but it has serious presence on the road, even parked. Some regulars at the Four Seasons downtown Geneva.

There a stream of hyper-cars parked there, especially in the summer with all the Dubai and other Middle East plates in town.

the posing on your car thing, I've seen it happen a lot but mostly on supercars. I'd take it as a compliment and not mind so much as long as no one sits on my hood or brush their handbags along the fenders. I cringe a little at first but when there are no scratches, I smile and drive away happy.

there are very few Z4s in Toronto, My best guy here has a 35is but he's sold it for a Cayman R. so Now i know next to zero Z4 owners. damn, anyone from Toronto want to shout out?

Hey, at least it's unique!

And you know you drive a Z4 when you turn your music off because you'd rather listen to your engine!
