agreed, N54 power band peaks at 5500 RPM, no need to take it past this, and shifting at this range puts out best performance

Times slips ?

I don't have formal sector times from a transponder but last time I was at a driving school at Willow Springs I was playing with shifting at redline or short shifting early when exiting the corner leading onto longest straight and it seemed like holding the lower gear until redline was advantageous, based on higher terminal speed before braking.

I figured the lower gearing from lower holding the gear to redline was better than shifting earlier.

This would be true of an NA engine but the turbos in the n54 run out of steam early hence an earlier shift is advantageous.

no time slips, i had 2 x N54 motor cars, i judge by my own experience, also a lot of forum members confirms this
