What DIY have you done?

Got a little bored today and decided that I want to do some DIY to the Z.
Tried to search for ideas but couldn't find anything interesting to do.
Doesn't have to be completely DIY, could be a mod you installed on your own.

to start off, here's what I've done on my weekends:
  1. Install JB4
  2. Replace chrome grille with black grille
  3. Pasti Dip bottom grille (from silver/grey to black, matched the black "performance" grille
  4. H8 bulb

Why use GROM? Isn't playing mp3 as simple as plugging in a USB stick in the center console USB port?

I don't have 6FL, which is an option pre-2012 but became standard equipment in 2012. There is an OEM 6FL retrofit kit, but it's Europe only so you can't order it through the dealership. You'd have to go through an importer which is much more expensive.

That explains it. I have a '11 and have a dedicated old iPod that I kept plugged into the USB port.

Depends on what you have installed.
Anything that the aftermarket part "touches", voids warranty

The existence of aftermarket parts does not automatically void your warranty. They must prove that the failure of a part is caused by or related to the aftermarket part to deny you warranty. Of course, you may have to get a lawyer involved at that point if they try to screw you.

Most likely, fingers will be pointed at the after market part for the failure

Hence the lawyer part Or you could remove the aftermarket part before taking your car into the dealership, if you think they are going to give you trouble for it.

Which pedal cover? That sounds like a good, quick weekend project.

Did you use the leather touch up on your seat bolster? And if so what did you buy? Mine is scuffed just like the last 3 Zs I've had.

BMWpedals.com. They are a perfect fit for the Z4 and look awesome. Easy install too.

Oh yes, forgot to mention I did the stubby antenna as well! Stock antenna suck! Also, I think you mean Michelin PSS

Yes, bolster is pretty much always the first thing to get worn on any car. I used Gliptone Scuffmaster. I had a Coral Red kit that was left over from my 335i so I figured it'd be OK to use on the Z4. Turns out the Coral Red in my Z4 is not the exact shade as my 335i. It worked ok for most tiny spots, but for a bigger 1/4" x 3/8" spot, I could not get the shade the match exact no matter how many times I tried. I get really OCD about these kinds of things, so I eventually took it to an upholstery shop that handles the local Benz dealerships' leather repairs and had them custom match the color and redye the spot. Costed $65 but I got a bottle of custom matched leather dye out of it You can also get Gliptone to color match your leather but you'd have to send them a small swatch of your leather and then there's the time it takes (they are in UK).

SNK - in order for me to earn my Dinan badge, I had to get the Dinan Pedal set as I was 2 points shy from getting it. They look nice.

Missed this yesterday. I'm sure that's not a problem. But if I was having problem with the hard top and have to take it to the dealers, I would take the smarttop out just to be safe.

When I search on there all I see is coming soon. Did you use a different model or maybe they are updating?
