just did golf tee mod :D
Pinched the tube and ziptied it..sounds much deeper at startup....can tell its definitely the right side that has the new deeper sound..
now gonna switch the pipes from 1 out each side to 2 out each side..save like 3K on a new exhaust (and the wait) pretty happy with the sound..was just looking for a bit more from the exhaust but rather spend the 3K on a LSD |

this is what i did on mines
if you have JB4, you also have an option to leave it open by adjusting the settings in it. no mod required and can go into quiet mode at any given time |

I like the fact you've got the parts to block this. I simply put a screw inside the pipe, which grips and blocks the airflow. I can simply unscrew it from the pipe if required. I've had to do this on mine as the flap rattles from time to time.

The flap rattles? at what rpm?
btw, having taken off the rear msport bumper to install diffuser..i realize that for anyon doing the golf tee mod, if you want to have easier/neater access (like Hoa's pics), taking off the bumper makes it so much easier. |

different method
Guys - I have been reading about the golf tee mod for a while. I really want to take a shot but now I'm a bit confused.
I just saw this video. Is this an easier way of doing the same thing? What do you think? |

On the z4 you simply block the vacuum pipe near the rear right back box. |

so this golf tee mod is putting you rubber things on 2 vacuum outlets? Can I do this without lifting the car on a lift? Does it sound deeper only at startup or while you drive too? I already have a catless DP so I wonder how much louder the car will be? Crazy enough, this is the first I've heard of this exhaust mod. I must be in a Z hole.

Apparently it is as a few posts have been stated. Going to give this a whirl tonight but unclear how to stick ones hand down such a tiny opening. I had serious issue with lux halos as the slot was so small to get my hand in there to twist it on correctly.
