Pics from North Carolina
Thought I would upload a few pics from our trip last week to North Carolina, and across the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Tail of the Dragon. Had a great time, minus a couple of half days of rain, but mostly sunny and top down for the biggest portion of the trip. In the one shot on the Dragon it appears the guy on the bike was trying to get into our trunk! looking to save gas I guess...?
I would recommend this trip to anyone that can get into the region... The entire area is a driver's paradise! Last edited by robertrichhart; 04-10-2012 at 06:19 PM.. |

Very nice. I'm sure you had a blast. This road is a unique experience. See any Smokeys?

Glad to read you had a great experience. You also must have found the photogs on the side of the road to get those pics.
Agreed that anywhere in the NC mountains is a great drive but the Dragon is THE road.

Very nice indeed, thanks for sharing. Nice to see 2 of the Z4's without front plates

Actually the speedlimit on the Dragon is 30 mph. Tourists go slower, sport bikes and cars go faster. It is Patrolled by TN, sometimes very tight, but not 7x24. Worst thing is radar doesn't travel far and give you warning. Best advice is to do it early weekday mornings and do NC to TN slowly first and pick up speed on the reverse. Most of the 318 curves are very tight and not much over the limit.
Approach roads may be 45 or 55. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 45.
