Lithium grease for aluminum threads?
I have a lot of aluminum replacement parts for my N54 e89 Z4 such as the BMS oil filter cap with magnet. I hate the fact that there's aluminum on aluminum contact, so can I use a little lithium grease to lube the threads so I don't cause shavings and protect the threads? I know these engines run hot, but lithium grease has a high temperature range of 300 degrees F and my engine doesn't go over 250 even under heavy loads and constant stress.
Just curious. Appreciate your time and happy Thanksgiving everyone! - Brandon |

You can use lithium or silicone grease…torque setting are upset but they originally assumed a plastic filter housing anyway..
Copper grease is not recommended it could incur electrolytic corrosion …
