Fields BMW Beware

I purchased a used 2009 Z4 from their Orlando South Dealership in December and initially all seemed well, the car had some problems that the dealership offered to buy it back from me. Of course that begs the question did they know the car had problems? I subsequently found out the Fields BMW dealership has been advertising a 2010 BMW Z4 that is certified with satelite radio, non of which is true. This was brought to the attention of Fields senior management and the vehicle continued to be advertised. I was concerned about their integrety and honesty, but since Fields offered to buy my Z4 back I wanted to move on. The problems didn't go away since I released the paper work 3 weeks ago and they flatbedded my Z-4 to their dealership 11 days ago, I have not received payment for my car from Fields BMW because they say it is a Finance Department procedure? I have been e-mailing the dealership management and even tried to speak with Mr. John Fields in Chicago who through his administrative assistant said I was told to speak with Mr. Dan Fields his son who manages all the Fields BMWs. When I asked for Mr. Dan Fields direct number, I was only given the dealership number and using this you can get only to his assistant. Are all of the Fields famiy to important to talk to the little people who purchase their product? Fields BMWs may have free ice cream, coffee, and concierge service, but lacks customer service. I rated them 10s to BMW because I thought they would solve the problems of my Z4, but buyer beware. As a 25+ year owner of numerous BMWs through many BMW dealers including an overseas delivery, this has not been a pleasant experience.

First contact the Finance Department and ask them to define their procedure for payment and when are you scheduled to receive the check. If they refuse to reply, I recommend seeking legal advice or retain a bill collector.

Beemer12: This might not be a Fields issue (i.e not paying you.)
Did you purchase this car in COD? When you made the cheque, did you make it to BMW financing or to Orlando South Dealership?
As Vector Pilot suggest, I would first contact the Finance Department. Would than seek from them the payment procedure and Methods. And than, only than, I will refer to a legal advice on how to proceed.

Gd luck!

There are a few sloppy BMW dealerships around I guess it all depends on the ownership and how it is run. It is important that we as customers report issues like this to the people in the top ranks at BMW so they can address the issues.

As they say in every barrel of apples there are a few rotten ones.

Good luck with your situation, it does sound terrible. Something that should not be tolerated.

This is disturbing as I am negotiating with Fields in Asheville, NC on a used 335d.

Planning to change your Z4? or add the 335d as a daily driver? I saw a 335d convertible at Die Welt in München in May 2009 it looked very nice.

I also have had a 335d loaner. I didn't dislike the diesel sound and it had plenty of pep when needed. It just doesn't sound fun, like the 35i models.

If you are trading in a vehicle, just add a couple years to the model year of the car you are trading in. You know, to make it seem newer, so you can get a few more bucks for it. If they find out you lied, just tell them...."After all, that's how you guys do business, right?"

This is my 2nd BMW from Fields in Orlando, ive always had excellent experiences with the entire staff, its a large operation and folks unfortuantly will have these types of situations sometimes but so far i have nothing but good things to say about them.

All is well. I finally received my refund from Fields. Now I'm waiting for my refund from BMW for the cancelled tire and wheel package. My kudos goes out to Mic Romero, the sales manager, who did try to do the right thing throughout the entire experience. I guess the message here is be persistant. I did replace the car with a used, 3500 miles, 3.5 2011 Z4 from Autobahn Motors in Ft. Worth, Texas.
