Composite Brakes
There is a BMW Performance option of composite brakes. I think it is available to the 3 series, but not to the Z4. Does anybody know the price and if it will work on the Z4? Thanks!

Rear brake is for E90
This brake made by BREMBO (both calipers and rotors) can't fit in E89, E89 has electric hand brake on rear

Seems if some could get a slotted or drilled rotor to work for the the rear, they could paint the caliper to match the front Brembo. |

I also mentioned that others were taking models designed specifcally for other BMW models and retrofitting them onto their cars. Brembo explained that this was a common practice, but they're not going to recommend it because THEY haven't tested the units with that specific setup. I'll keep you guys updated with more of the news as soon as I get word back from Brembo. |

If you ever got a chance to install a set of Brembo GT Big Brake Upgrades for a car, you'll know why Brembo is second to none. Brembo uses a full monoblock caliper design that's made all in-house in Italy. They have proprietary hardware that is special to Brembo. And the brake kits come fully assembled with specific torque values for each nut and bolt that's on the rotor. What does that translate to? Easy installation and no chance for user error. The exact way Brembo would like it. They also run three separate checks ran by three different technicians and engineers before any of the kits are shipped out. Talk about service. |

Update on E89-specific Brembo GT Brake Upgrade Kits
Hello ZPost!
After some more picking, I finally got to talk this over with a Brembo representative. It turns out that the E89-specific Brembo Gran Turismo Kits have been on Brembo's high-priority list for the past year. They have had a lot of interest, but unfortunately, the volunteered test cars all bailed when it came time to take measurements and specs for the kit being developed. Also, Brembo doesn't recommend that you source kits from a different BMW model as the annulus requirements, clearance requirements, and hardware requirements might be different. They feel better than users use a specific kit developed by Brembo with all of the correct configurations for the rotors, hats, hardware, and calipers intended for the vehicle. If anyone is located in Southern California and would like to help with this process, Brembo is looking for a vehicle to do test-fitting and measurements to build out this wanted kit for you guys. Please PM me your information and availability for this fitting. Brembo North America is here in Costa Mesa, CA. So to sum it all up, the kit doesn't exist, but Brembo is working on it. They need your help! |

at over $4k per set, i'm sure brembo can afford to buy a Z and do whatever they need to do to make it happen. better yet, since they work with all the top suppliers, why can BMW give them a test mule??

ouch that is pricey - I will still probably do it though. Yes, it is ridiculous and no, the car does not need them unless you are tracking it BUT they look awesome and stopping is amazing. I just really want some in silver with black or red lettering.
